Unit 2 choice 1

1.       Jude 1:1-3

How can you multiply mercy, peace, and love? I feel serving encompasses each of these, I think that we show compassion, kindness, and forgiveness we show mercy to others. I know that when we are doing what the Lord wants us to do and we know that He is pleased with us this brings peace. Love is something that makes every situation better, loving others help us to be more patient, understanding, and having empathy.

How can you appropriately “contend for the faith” I think this means that we really put forth effort and action, faith without works is dead and so to contend for the faith is to put forth the effort it takes to believe the truth that we are learning.

2.       Jude 1:4-19

Identify the phrase “first estate” Jeremiah 1:5 “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” I think that this means that we need to make the very best with what we have been given here on earth, just like the parable of the talents, God wants to know what we are doing with the gifts and talents that He has given us. We must do our best to know what our gifts and talents and use them to serve others especially our families.

What we do we know concerning the dispute which Michael the Archangel had with the devil about the body of Moses? Elder Bruce R. McConkie said, “Moses was translated and taken up into heaven without tasting death, Michael was commissioned to bury Moses. Satan opposed the burial.”

Explain the disputation between the devil and Moses. Article of Faith 8 “We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.” I think this is telling us that it is about the interpretation of the doctrine that is so important.

What does Jude say about who will accompany the Savior at the second coming? Jude 1: 14 “And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints” This makes me very happy because I had a son pass away, I know he will come with Christ because he is perfect.

3.       Jude 1:17, 20-25

Avoid the evils that often come from false teachers?

When you do the things that invite to Holy Ghost into our lives we are more in tuned to recognize the truth when we hear or a lie. When we are treating others with love and kindness we can detect others that are not. Having compassion for people will allow us to see good from evil. When we fear we are not having faith and if we feel fear there is something wrong. When we turn to the Lord and spend our time on loving, serving and forgiving we are able to avoid the evils that come from idleness and putting energy into those things that do not bring peace.
