Unit 2 Choice 4

“Life isn’t fair” Why do I have so many trials? I’m tired of being ridiculed by those who do not keep the commandments.

1 Peter 1: 7 “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ”

1 Peter 2: 15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men” 21 “For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps”

1 Peter 3: 14 “But and if ye suffer for righteousness’ sake, happy are ye: and be not afraid of their terror, neither be troubled”

1 Peter 4: 16 “Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.”

Watching conference today there was a talk by Elder Cook that addresses this very subject, I will summarize what he said, “How do we deal unfair trails of life? They must not distract us from knowing Christ’s Atoning sacrifice and is beyond mortal understanding, Deep values go to the core of who we are. We must be like the young sunflower that turns to the sunshine, we must turn to Christ.”

Life is not fair and it is not supposed to be, there are many that suffer because of the free agency of others. We have each been born into different circumstances and have many people in our lives that may or may not be good for us. Those that do not keep the commandments usually have guilt of some sort and the way they seem to deal with this usually turn on those that are keeping the commandments to justify their actions. Jesus Christ suffered much because of those that we against everything they stood for, but we have been promised that if we suffer with grace we will be blessed eternally. We will all have trials to some degree and it will be hard to endure but if we endure well and with love and patience with confidence Jesus will uphold us and will appreciate our devotion.
